TRADESHOWS — SONY NAB Booth Sizzle Reel — National Association of Broadcasters Las Vegas

NAB Exhibits 2008 - 105,259 registered attendees, 28,310 international, 1,296 news media attendees

SONY introduced several HD camcorders, but none generated as much buzz among producers and shooters in the middle of the pack as the PMW-EX3. While some regard it as an EX1 with interchangeable lenses (but at twice the cost), it is actually more than that. Besides its three 1920x1080 CMOS sensors, it offers key features for multi-camera use including genlock, timecode I/O and remote control. It can continuously record up to 280 minutes onto two 16GB SxS memory cards at 25Mb/s. The thing that interests most editors is whether their chosen NLE can support the various mainstream, file-based camera systems out today. Sony’s got XDCAM, XDCAM HD and now the SxS cards used on the PMW-EX1 and the new EX3 camcorders.

Two of Sony Creative Softwares major showcases at NAB 2008 were prosumer and professional Blu-ray authoring. Now that Blu-ray Discs (BD) are the industry standard, Sony is offering DVD Architect 5 to the indie filmmakers, producers and videographers.
